New Enteral feeding Stopcock
Luer connector misconnections are an under-recognized, but common dangerous events. The objective of the new ISO 80369 Standards that are gradually being implemented is to prevent these adverse events so crucial to patient safety.

Elcam has been taking a proactive approach in the implementation of the new standard regulations allowing our customers to prepare themselves for the upcoming change.

Elcam's new Enteral feeding stopcock that includes the new Enfit connector design fully compatible with the new ISO 80369-3 standard is already available for sale and serves as a great example for this approach.

Elcam's Enteral Feeding Stopcock is produced with Tritan™ coopolyester, which is compatible with lipids and aggressive drugs and is also not made with BPA. Both these characteristics are a natural fit with the concerns facing the enteral feeding market, and can provide enhanced patient and caregiver safety.

Elcam Medical has also been taking a proactive approach for the implementation of the ISO 80369-7 standard that involves small-bore connectors for liquids and gases in healthcare applications.
Please contact Elcam's QA department with any questions regarding the new ISO 80369 standards.
SafeT™ (Tritan™) stopcocks drug compatibility tests

SafeT™ Stopcock

Lipid and aggressive drugs induced cracks and leakages are considered under-reported adverse events or mistakenly attributed to other circumstances. Resin manufacturers have long been exploring options for a more robust resin that can better handle lipids and other aggressive solutions commonly administered, mainly through the IV route.

As an answer to this need and as part of our continuous effort to enhance patient and caregiver safety, Elcam Medical is now incorporating Tritan™ - a new, robust resin that can help minimize chemical and lipid-induced cracking in a new line of stopcocks and connectors - the Elcam Medical SafeT™ product line.
The SafeT™ stopcocks have been tested and proven to be compatible with 10 different drugs including lipid and other aggressive substances and IPA (propranolol). The test results concluded that under reasonable industrial conditions and clinical use the SafeT™ (Tritan integrated) Stopcock can be used for up to 96 hours , including with administration of lipid-based solutions and other aggressive drugs as detailed in the test results document.
